SHIMA Restaurant
The brief for the project was to create a sophisticated yet welcoming restaurant that reflects the fusion of Peruvian and Japanese cuisines. The design needed to incorporate elements from both cultures, creating a cohesive aesthetic that enhances the dining experience. The restaurant was to feature various dining areas, including private dining rooms, a sushi bar, and an outdoor terrace, all while maintaining a harmonious design language. The inspiration for the restaurant’s design comes from the harmonious blend of Peruvian and Japanese cultures. This fusion is reflected in the choice of materials, colors, and textures. From the vibrant, earthy tones of Peruvian landscapes to the serene, minimalist aesthetics of Japanese interiors, the design captures the essence of both cultures.
Bold colors, natural materials, and artisanal craftsmanship reflect the vibrant culture of Peru. Textures and patterns inspired by traditional Peruvian textiles and ceramics are integrated into the design. Clean lines, minimalist decor, and the use of natural elements such as wood and stone embody the tranquility and elegance of Japanese design. Shoji screens, tatami mats, and Zen-inspired elements create a serene ambiance.
